Lets talk root. Rooting is the first step of your foundation training. Moving root is where you want to be. How do you develop this? Easy, do your forms and it will come. There is no shortcut. Pondder on this.

Forgive me for being overly simple. Aside from practice I'm picking up on two verbs you left with to develop rooting: no shortcuts and to ponder. Our mindset plays a big role in rooting. We could have a good stance but a poor demeanor inside and since we do what we think it will show on the floor. As I ponder and get everything into focus things become clearer and able to stand stronger than a mind cluttered and battered by the winds of life.
